![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Many companies employ nonunion warehouse workers. I suspect falling prices have to do with the growing influx of goods on the West Coast.Īnd here in Virginia, the Unions have much less power than they used to. In addition, we're within easy striking range of Newport News, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, and Baltimore, MD. The landscaping company I work for operates out of one, and we're not exactly a bustling outfit. You also raise good points, however, warehouse districts in Virginia, at least, are inexpensive. Plus judging by the Google Earth picture of their gaming center and studio it looks to me like the warehouse is connected which means they either own it, or they can at the very least keep their warehousing costs in house, which is definitely cheaper than renting space in LA and paying west and east coast union costs. ![]() I bet half their shipping or more is spent on the Longshoremen at US ports. Looked at real estate prices in LA or NY lately? Your logic is fine if warehousing costs the same in MN as it does in CA, guarantee you it doesn't. As is, they're spending time and money moving it from the ports to the warehouse, and out to the vendors.Ĭloser warehouses = faster release and less money spent = more profit. It would make better sense to have two smaller warehouses, one on each seaboard. Quote: I just think that having a warehouse in Minnesota is strange, for a company that has its printing done in China and Germany. ![]()
